C.J. Dyck Arena

The C.J. Dyck Arena in Plum Coulee stands as a tribute to the generosity and
dedication of Mr. C.J. Dyck.

For many years, C.J. Dyck served as a volunteer caretaker, spending countless hours maintaining the facility and supporting the activities held there. His contributions went far beyond his time. In 1989, he funded the installation of artificial ice and the construction of the rink. From 2010 to 2015, he sponsored annual public skating sessions, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the rink free of charge.

Mr. Dyck’s generosity extended beyond the rink itself—he helped purchase skates, hockey sweaters, and other equipment for those who could not afford them, opening the door for more kids to participate in sports.

In 2016, a devastating fire caused severe damage to the facility, requiring extensive repairs estimated at over $300,000. Despite this setback, the legacy of C.J. Dyck’s passion for community and sport continues to inspire. His commitment to the arena, especially to public skating, remains a cornerstone of its story.

Today, the C.J. Dyck Arena honours his memory, reminding us of the profound impact one individual can have on a community.
